Preschool Program
U.G.I.’s Preschool Program is specially
designed for children 12 mos. through five
years old. Through innovative, challenging
lessons, our Preschool Program strives to
develop and fine-tune many essential
qualities in each child. Grouped by age,
the preschoolers participate and learn in
an atmosphere that enables every child to
be successful, thus increasing each child’s
level of self-esteem. This positive desire to
achieve carries over in his/her daily
encounters outside the Universal school.
Parent -Tot Classes
SHOOTING STAR
This is a play group style 30-minute class for young
movers --- children ages one year through one year -
11 months who are walking and ready to explore
their environment. Parents are active participants in
class, which is supported by a trained instructor.
Class begins with basic music/movement exercises,
followed by free exploration of the gymnastics
environment.
SUPER STAR
The Super Star class is a 40-minute structured class
for 2-year-old toddlers. Class begins with
music/movement exercises and basic stretching to
introduce core gymnastics positions. Children learn
new skills, and continue to develop their gross
motor skills, while moving through a variety of
stations on the gymnastics equipment. Parents are
active helpers in this class, encouraging and
assisting their child through stations and circuits.
Instructors provide parents with safe and supportive
strategies to engage with their children as they
improve strength, coordination, and balance.
NOVA
All 3-year-olds start out in Nova. Our instructors
continue to teach and reinforce preschool readiness
skills to 3-year-olds, like circle time, sharing, taking
turns, listening, and following directions, as well as
reading and writing readiness, colors, numbers, and
shapes. Our gymnastics classes help children
develop their gross and fine motor skills, increasing
strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, body
awareness and control, and self-confidence.
Independant Classes:
The UGI Gym*Stars program offers three classes for the
older preschoolers who are ready to take class
independently. Children must be potty-trained. Our
instructors continue to teach and reinforce preschool
readiness skills, like circle time, sharing, taking turns,
listening, and following directions, as well as reading and
writing readiness, colors, numbers, and shapes. Our
gymnastics classes help children develop their gross and
fine motor skills, increasing strength, flexibility,
coordination, balance, body awareness and control, and
self-confidence.
SUPER NOVA
3-year-olds must be recommended by their
instructor to move into Super Nova from Nova. Our
instructors continue to teach and reinforce
preschool readiness skills, like circle time, sharing,
taking turns, listening, and following directions, as
well as reading and writing readiness, colors,
numbers, and shapes. Our gymnastics classes help
children develop their gross and fine motor skills,
increasing strength, flexibility, coordination, balance,
body awareness and control, and self-confidence.
METEOR
Meteor is a 40-minute class for all 4 year olds. Each
class begins with movement and stretching
exercises. Next, instructors lead children through a
set of circuits to teach gymnastics skills and
positions. The circuits also help children improve
their gross motor skills and increase their body
awareness and control. Instructors also reinforce
concepts like listening, taking turns, following
directions, and encourage positive social
interactions among peers.
COMET
Comet is a 40- or 45-minute class for 5 year olds.
Instructors use circuits to teach developmentally
appropriate gymnastics skills. Children learn more
gymnastics terminology and work to refine and
improve their skills. They continue to build
confidence and independence, which will prepare
them for the transition into the downstairs gym at
age 6.
