A: If your family has never taken classes at UGI before, create an account in the Customer Portal. There you will be prompted to accept our waiver and policies, add family and student info, add payment info, and request/enroll for classes. Your card will be charged after your request has been reviewed, with payment automatically coming out on the 25th for the following months thereafter.
Q: How do I withdraw if I need to?
A:In the event you need to withdraw, please use the drop request feature in the Customer Portal by the 15th of the month in order to not be charged for the upcoming month. There are no refunds for the most recent tuition paid, as we were already planning on the enrollment and it held a spot that someone else could have taken
Q: What is the make-up policy?
A:Make-ups are a courtesy and is not guaranteed. A request to schedule a make-up will be honored if there's room in a class and it is within a month of the absence. We also appreciate knowing if your child will be absent in the future so we may open the spot for other make-ups.
Q: How are cancellations from inclement weather handled?
A:Occasionally, UGI may need to cancel classes due to outside factors. In these cases, the homepage of the website will be updated. We will also notify you by phone and/or email. An alternate “make-up” plan will be scheduled.
Q: What if my child is unable to finish the session due to injury?
A:You will receive a prorated credit toward a future class if an injury occurred while in class. A doctor’s note is required upon return allowing full activity.
Q: Can a new student try a class before signing up?
A: Yes. We offer free trials, providing we have openings in classes to do so. We typically recommend the student start at a beginner level for their age to ensure they are safe doing those skills and won’t be overwhelmed. Student’s must be within a week from their birthday to do a trial in a class of the next age group. If you would like to provide more info on your child’s abilities, feel free to contact us at 614-777-9430, email the office at ugigym@gmail.com, or email the Recreational Director at ugi.recdirector@gmail.com. Trials require an account to be created on the Customer Portal with a waiver on file. Feel free to leave a note with the trial request in the Customer Portal.
Q: Do you offer private lessons?
A:Private lessons are only available to currently enrolled students and team members. There is a gym rental fee associated with the private lesson fee along with an instructor/coaching fee. A private lesson rents space from the gym just the same as other related businesses do, therefore, a gym rental fee is assessed, which also covers the liability insurance for that lesson. They are not scheduled through the office but we would be happy to help you get connected with an instructor/coach.
Q: My daughter is ready for something more than classes. What are the next steps?
A:At UGI we have a USAG sanctioned Competitive Team program and a Rockets Recreational Team program. Both programs do not typically take new students mid-season, August through May. The “tryout” process starts at the end of April/beginning of May due to limited spots available. Level 1 for the Competitive Teams can start as early as age 5. Rockets usually starts once a student is about to reach our Rec 3 level.
